Our Role
EBCAM is the principal private sector interlocutor of the EU institutions
and of African countries on matters affecting the interests of the
private sector in Africa. Located in Brussels, EBCA participates
in the formulation of an European development policy for Africa,
cooperating with Institutions of the European Union, the European
Investment Bank, the Centre for the Development of Enterprises -
CDE, the European Development Finance Institutions - EDFI, ACP Secretariat,
the African Union and other relevant organisations.
EBCAM also represents international institutions ensuring the necessary
liaison with other professional European groups.
EBCAM believes that the private sector plays a key role in the
economic development of African countries. For this reason it promotes
and fosters trade investments in Africa and has played an important
part in the preparation for the Barcelona Agreement in 1995 and
the Cotonou Agreement in 2000 and now continues to monitor and give
advice on all aspects of their implementation which affect the private
sector in Africa and is actively promoting current initiatives and
investment in the continent.
