The Southern Africa Business Forum (SABF) is a strong group of companies
and entrepreneurs having business interests in or with southern
Africa. SABF is linked with the West Africa Business Association
(WABA) and the Eastern Africa Business Association (EAA) in FABA
and joint events are often held. SABF is also linked with the EU
through its membership of the British Africa Business Association
(BABA) and Business Council Europe-Africa-Mediterranean (BCEAM)
The objective of the Forum is to assist its members to transact
business successfully in the sub-region, to the benefit of both
the members and the countries in which they are active. This is
achieved through five main areas of activity:
-
Information - sourcing and dissemination of authoritative
information on the 11 countries comprising the sub-region, covering
commercial, economic and political intelligence via a daily,
dedicated, confidential news service by e-mail and regular business
briefings.
-
Networking - promotion of networking opportunities for members,
drawing together offshore businessmen, their counterparts in
southern Africa and luminaries in the sub-region's governments
and public sectors. Monthly transcontinental networking meetings
are held with members of WABA.
-
Influence - propagation of the views of members on improving
the business environment in the sub-region to both local and
offshore governments and discreet lobbying of these governments
and international organisations on behalf of the collective
membership.
-
Help - practical advice to members doing business within southern
Africa on business related issues such as administration problems
(visa requirements and where to get professional advice if required),
specific business arrangements (introductions at ministerial
and ambassadorial levels) and in-country support to identify
local marketing opportunities and or partners.
-
Promotion - positive promotion of member companies through
the Association's website, publications and events through the
year together with its contacts with the media and other important
trade, business, lobbying and African interested bodies.
The Southern Africa Business Forum has its headquarters and Secretariat
in London, with resident representatives across the region.
